Client: KIMFF: Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival

 

Competition Brief from KIMFF: "Our festival tagline 'Climate Karma' reflects the complexity and interdependence of the global community and our shared future. We invite you to join our efforts for a call to action by designing a creative and original poster for KIMFF 2021 that reflects our focus on climate change."

This competition was set by the KIMFF organisation and the winner's poster design would be used throughout the branding for their 2021 film festival. I was very happy to learn that my design was picked as the winner.

 

Poster Design- Since the festival was taking place in Nepal I decided to pick a climate issue close to home, the melting of mountains that Nepal is surrounded by. I used a modern and clean design to portray this so that it is simple and easily understood by everyone.

I decided to add a red sun behind the mountains to represent the urgency of this issue and the heat from the sun. This however can also be seen as hope rising up from behind the mountains telling us there is time to fix the problem if we act now.
